Time Trials

How do I get started in Time Trials

All you need is a road worthy bike, and helmet and you are ready to go.

  • Enter online at www.ccc.je and arrive around 10 minutes before the start time normally 18:45pm  or 8:00am. Collect a number and sign-0n
  • When collecting the number you will be given a start time, e.g. 7:02pm , this means you will start 16 minutes after the first ride that starts, if the race is using sequential numbers you will have number 16.
  • You then line up in front of number 15 and start one minute after them , if number 15 does not start then you will start 2 minutes after number 14.
  • The start list is normally published the night before so you should be aware of the riders starting before you.
  • Not all races will use sequential numbers as we have issued CCC numbers, with the advantage that you can turn up minutes before your start time, we will advise which races you can use your CCC numbers. The issue with CCC numbers is it can cause confusion in terms of which order you start, though the start list published will set this out.
  • Once you have started then all you need to do is cycle to the finish line as fast as possible, the one rule is you are not allowed to draft from the rider in front of you.
  • If you are going to catch the rider in front then move to the outside (right)  so you are not drafting, and quickly move ahead, once ahead you can move back to the left.
  • If a rider passes you the same rules apply, once they move to the left, you cannot draft from them, (you must move to the right if you start catching them  and then decide whether you are going to overtake)
